Italian News by RSSIl Tempo: Artisti di strada banditi pure da via Ottaviano. Ennesimo diktat del Municipio
Sotto la scure del Municipio I sono caduti anche gli artisti di strada che si esibiscono in via Ottaviano, che è stata pedonalizzata per il Giubileo 2025 ed è quindi un palcoscenico ideale per musicisti, mimi e cantanti. Eppure per la giunta del Centro, che con una delibera del 24 febbraio ha vietato le esibizioni per tutto il 2026, la strada non è «idonea» a ospitare i performer «per ragioni di sicurezza, decoro urbano e rispetto delle attività istituzionali e residenziali».
Tra le motivazioni del divieto, oltre alle «segnalazioni dei residenti», che lamenterebbero «il costante e insostenibile livello di frastuono», stavolta c'è anche la presenza di una sede del liceo Majorana. Ma via Ottaviano è solo l'ultima delle strade da cui il Municipio ha bandito gli artisti di strada. La serie è lunga è comprende piazza San Calisto, largo Gaetana Agnesi, largo Goldoni, via del Corso (nella Ztl Tridente), via dei Fori Imperiali, piazza Pasquino e via del Portico di Ottavia. Inoltre, non potendo decidere autonomamente, la ex circoscrizione ha anche chiesto al Comune di Roma di fare lo stesso su piazza Trilussa, Ponte Sisto e piazza di Pietra.
Tutti fuori dal Centro, quindi, tranne i residenti. Il Tempo ha già segnalato questa tendenza pubblicando le richieste del Municipio in tema di mobilità (dall'allargamento della Ztl fino all'eliminazione dei parcheggi gratuiti). Ma quello che nel Primo sembrano non aver ancora capito è che i residenti sono sempre meno e quei pochi che restano verranno soppiantati dai turisti in rioni sempre meno «romani» e sempre più luna park, tra souvenir discutibili e venditori abusivi. Contro i quali, peraltro, non ci risultano piovere dal Municipio la stessa quantità di divieti e solleciti.

Under the shadow of Municipio I, street performers who perform on Via Ottaviano – which was pedestrianized for the 2025 Jubilee and is therefore an ideal stage for musicians, mimes, and singers – have also fallen. Yet, despite being in the heart of the city, which with a resolution of February 24th banned performances for the entire 2026 year, citing “security reasons, urban decorum, and respect for institutional and residential activities,” the street is deemed “unsuitable” for performers.
Among the reasons for the ban, in addition to the “complaints of residents,” who would lament “the constant and unsustainable level of noise,” there is now also the presence of a Majorana high school location. But Via Ottaviano is just the latest of the streets from which Municipio I has banned street artists. The list is long and includes Piazza San Calisto, Largo Gaetana Agnesi, Largo Goldoni, Via del Corso (within the Tridente ZTL), Via dei Fori Imperiali, Piazza Pasquino, and Via del Portico di Ottavia. Furthermore, as it cannot make decisions independently, the former district has also asked the City of Rome to do the same regarding Piazza Trilussa, Ponte Sisto, and Piazza di Pietra.
Everyone outside the center, therefore, except the residents. *Il Tempo* has already reported this trend by publishing the Municipio’s requests concerning mobility (from widening the ZTL to eliminating free parking). But what appears not to have yet been understood in the First Municipality is that residents are becoming increasingly scarce, and those few who remain will be replaced by tourists in districts that are increasingly less “Roman” and more like amusement parks, with questionable souvenirs and illegal vendors. Against whom, moreover, the Municipio does not seem to be issuing the same amount of bans and requests.
