Any ideas how to get a #Wine app to pick up a USB peripheral? I created a #Udev rule but beyond that I'm stumped. For the record, I've read all about how USB isn't a core Wine function and that if Wine does control the device the host won't be able to. I'm good with all of that, I think it's fine for my use case.

My use case being: I have a #Roland #TR-6s and I want to try to use the TR Editor via Wine. I was able to get it installed and running finally and now this new roadblock has appeared.

If this doesn't pan out I'll look into setting up a stripped down VM.

@mosgaard As recommended by usebottles.com, I installed #Bottles as a Flatpak package. I also installed #flatseal, but not as a Flatpak.

I can't say yet whether this is the best option. I'm still testing it out. It will be a few more days before I can say more about it.

@mosgaard It will take some more time to draw a final conclusion. I haven't finished trying and testing everything yet. But it's very easy to change the Windows version for a plugin, for example.

Yesterday I updated my guide on "Running FL Studio on Linux" and gave it a much needed refresh after three years.

There's one small hack needed to complete the installer for the 2024 edition.

Hope this helps some more folks!

Running FL Studio on Linux

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. Since I last made a post about how I run things in Wine, specifically FL Studio, I've changed the way I run things with Wine.

Haven't used Win Apps on Linux for a while now (not months, more like years). #usebottles is really nice. Distributed as Flatpak, with environments located inside the Sandbox. Played some hours Age of Empires II in Multiplayer LAN mode wirhout a single problem. ๐Ÿ’ป ๐ŸŽฎ

Anyone else using FL Studio in Bottles?

I was successful in building mesa-git runtime using #buildstream
That I installed using my own #nix derivation there is one problem now though
I can't use nouveau experimental in #UseBottles so no luck for me I guess
Also yes mesa-git runtime supports nouveau experimental at least theoretically
I will try installing a random game in lutris I guess

folks do you have apps that use vulkan and that can give me what gpu they are using in the command line something like #vkcube in #flatpak

I love my #SteamDeck and just finished the main story line on Dave The Diver. I also have spent a lot of time in Vampire Survivors and I Am Future. I have a weird problem though: if I play a game on the Deck and spend any amount of time in it, it doesn't feel right on my 3440x1440 monitor. This means my gaming is split with a very definite line. I find this interesting .

On the desktop I play World Of Warcraft with #UseBottles, Oxygen Not Included, No Man's Sky, Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous, Valheim (private server), and some others.

I am looking for new games to play either on the desktop or Steam Deck. I would like something cozy and low effort for a bit but that still has substance. It has to be native #Linux or #Proton.
