If I watch too many episodes of #UpstartCrow in rapid succession, I start thinking in the amusing mock-Elizabethan idiom they use in the show …
#SomethingRotten #烂东西
笑死了,这剧让我想起#UpstartCrow 里音乐剧那集。但是这个rock star 莎士比亚是真的没想到。

Upstart Crow 1x01 "Star Crossed Lovers"

Episode one sees Will struggle to find inspiration for Romeo while having to deal with an angry actor, a very annoying house-guest and his family’s not terribly helpful script suggestions.

I happened to be reading and listening to podcast about the 'Great Vowel Shift' in English language. One of the effects of this was that in Shakespeare's times his lines did rhyme phonetically based on the pronunciation of words in his time, but after the vowel shift in our present English they only seem to be 'slant rhymes'. Take for example Shakespeare's sonnets. In Shakespeare's sonnets, there are examples of words that were pronounced differently during his time compared to modern pronunciation. One notable feature of the Shakespearean era was the use of a more pronounced vowel sound in certain words. For instance, in Shakespeare's time, the word "love" might have been pronounced with a longer vowel sound compared to how we say it today. Additionally, words like "heart" or "fair" may have had different vowel sounds in Shakespearean pronunciation. Speaking of Shakespeare, I also took a detour for the great BBC comedy show #UpstartCrow where they imagine Shakespeare in light of modern context, this makes for great comedy and its produced by none other than BBC Great Britain...this is one of many examples that showcase the humility of the English, they are grounded enough to even poke fun on themselves (self-deprecating jokes) ergo the greatest Bard ever Shakespeare...#IMHO its a lesson for those touchy-feely hypersensitive cry baby losers that can't take a little banter on social media and call for cancellation of these remarks / free speech labeling them as defamation. Also, a lesson for everyone, reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously, take a chill pill #IMHO :)

I noticed that Upstart Crow is screening on #BBC2 this evening. I got quite excited for a moment, then discovered it was a repeat of Series 1, Episode 1. That’s disappointing, but if you haven’t watched this excellent comedy, I’d recommend it.

Think I’m in love with @timdownie ‘s bum shank Kit Marlow. #UpstartCrow
I think I have a crush on Gemma Whelan. Her performance in Upstart Crow is something. Her rendering of “tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow” was just awesome. I say her performance was on the level of Ian Mckellen. #gemmawhelan #upstartcrow
I can't believe there have been 0 searches for #UpstartCrow on here in the last 2 days and I think we need to change that. Who else is a fan?

Finally got to see Upstart Crow yesterday (just before it closes today).
Really good fun show! 😁

Realising at this #poetryevening that #upstartcrow has ruined Shakespeare for me…!
