1918: Ireland elects a majority of Sinn Féin MPs, 73/105, pledged to set up independent parliament. Westminster ignores Dáil Éireann, then bans it.

2026: #Scotland elects yet another majority of pro-indy MSPs, who vote by 72—55 for a 2nd #indyref. Just as they promised. Within hours, an anonymous Downing Street spokesman says "no". A faceless no.

After 118 years, #UKgov still doesn't get this democracy thing.

Can anyone go to London SW1 with a large #cluebat?

This #RejoinEU petition now has almost 97,000 signatures, very close to the trigger for a #UKParl debate. With (slightly) more positive noises from #UKGov recently, this is hopefully worth signing, to show the continuing growing recognition that #BrexitBreaksBritain and that we want to fix it! Please sign (and share/repost the details)!

Petition: Apply to Rejoin the EU as soon as possible to increase growth in the UK

We believe Brexit's not working. The OBR judges that the UK economy is smaller and trade is weaker because of Brexit, and it will just get worse. 10 years after the Brexit vote, let's apply to rejoin the EU, reverse the damage, boost growth, increase tax revenues and restore opportunities in the UK

Yep. #UKGov failing again. Day ending in Y.
Although, the whole UK Establishment is failing us, really.
One small, teeny, tiny divide and minority bashing seems just *totally* needed to distract those not blinded by Greggs & Premier League.

Here's @MartinLewis having a justified pop at how bad the UK Government is at addressing frauds from scam adverts on social media.

Today, #Starmer made 2 appointments to the UK cabinet. Both ministers are on their 3rd govt job in <2 years.

James Murray was Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury for 14 months, then Chief Secretary to the Treasury for 8½ months. Now Health Secretary.

Lucy Rigby was Solicitor General for 12 months, then Economic Secretary to the Treasury for 8½ months, now Chief Secretary.

Musical chairs is endemic in #UKgov, but it's no way to run a country.

My opinion on the current government. With everything that is going off in the world and with the other options, I would be happy to keep Starmer at the helm until the general election. Just remember what we have to look forward to...
