This is a good listen, investigating what many others have called out as fraudulent dealings by tech companies like #Coreweave, #nscale and #Microsoft and a #UKgov pinning all its hopes on AI.

In no way related to my previous toot…
Does anyone have good recommendations for a Mastodon app that works on GrapheneOS without Google Play Services?
Well done #UKGov and #Apple Inc…
You’ve succeeded in making me, an ex-IT professional, turn off automatic updates for the first time 😔
If you think I’m handing over govt ID to be able to use my phone you can fuck the fuck the off. And when you get there you can fuck off some more…
iOS 26 was bad enough before this age verification nonsense but 26.4 is a travesty. And don’t get me started on not being allowed to encrypt my iCloud storage because I should be “thinking of the children” 🤬
@JenJen That seems, uhhmmm, confused. You can't post 'AI generated content', but you *can* use 'AI tools supporting creator workflows'.
So presumably if you have an AI tool which produces an image for you (such as this image I got some AI bot to do for me when #UKGov said they were banning posting pictures of people in small boats), that would be banned, but if I scribbled my signature on it, that would be good?
UK Space Weather Policy
The Register: "The UK is ill prepared for a major catastrophic solar storm"
"In 2025, the government estimated a 5-25 percent chance of a severe space weather event by 2030. However, according to the NAO, the UK is not well prepared. Despite severe space weather being added to the UK's National Risk Register in 2011, and some investment in developing the country's forecasting capabilities, the NAO warned that the government "does not yet understand the full range of possible impacts and cascading effects well."
It has also not "yet set out how resilient it would like the UK to be to severe space weather, nor what level of resilience its spending will provide."

"[…] this [is] to enable a “seamless travel experience”, while also giving the #ukgov “greater power to stop those who pose a threat from setting foot in the country and gives us a fuller picture of immigration.”
Yes, of course #ftl #dysfunctional #bollocks
just almost missed the 3rd time the #DWP called me to check if i am not 'scrounging' taxpayers money.
as it's one of few times i can tell the government what i think about their treatment of me, & everybody else in my position, i told them exactly #TheStateWeAreIn
it's weird. i feel angry but also relieved to be able to let out what i keep inside. the public servant i spoke to was brilliant, he listened patiently & reassured me he wouldn't harass me again. he respectfully allowed me to let it out. thank you for that stefan.
now i will have a good rest of my day. i will go to #ThePark & sit at my beautiful ancient willow tree.
