Canada's Artemis II Mission Patch Highlights Indigenous Teachings

Canadian Artemis II astronaut Jeremy Hansen has long worked with Turtle Lodge, a center for Indigenous education and knowledge in Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba, on the southern tip of Lake Winnipeg. In collaboration with Anishinaabe artist Henry Guimond, Hansen sought to create Canada’s moon mission patch with inspiration from local indigenous communities. This led to a design that features the seven sacred laws, each of them being represented by a different animal.
