Spooks in the City returns with new ‘Monster Mash‑up’ for 2025

Spooks in the City will return to the city centre on Saturday 25 October, running from 3pm until 8pm, with organisers unveiling a brand‑new “Monster Mash‑up” format designed to thrill both families and older visitors.

Two zones of fright and fun

The event will once again transform St David’s Place into a family‑friendly hub, renamed “Peculiar Place”. Supported by Flying Start, the area will feature a main stage packed with children’s entertainment, music, games, a fancy‑dress competition and roaming performers ready to surprise younger guests.

But for those seeking something darker, a new addition awaits across the Troll Bridge at Amy Dillwyn Park in Copr Bay. Dubbed “Dark Park”, the zone is aimed at thrill‑seekers, with terrifying creatures and chilling sights designed to test even the bravest visitors.

Monster trail and competitions

A special Monster Mash‑up photo trail will link the two areas, challenging families to track down eight hidden monsters for the chance to win prizes. Visitors can also expect giant creatures appearing on buildings, spooky projections and jump‑scares around every corner.

The popular costume competition returns with categories for both children and adults, offering prizes for the most creative fancy dress.

Council backing

Councillor Rob Stewart, Leader of Swansea Council, said the event has become a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar:

“Spooks in the City is a highlight of our annual calendar, and this year we’re thrilled to offer a fresh experience for our older guests. With one area for families and another for thrill‑seekers, expect laughter, gasps, and screams echoing through Swansea’s streets.

We’re always looking for new ways to enhance what the city has to offer, and this year’s event is a perfect example of that.”
