Have you studied writing? Did it prepare you, or did you learn more by doing?

Not "writing" in particular, but I did have an academic career (including a PhD), which did influence my writing style.

My love of footnotes comes partially from that, and partially from #Pratchett .

I don't remember which book I tried, but I remember bouncing off Discworld when I tried it. Don't even remember what didn't vibe for me, just that I were 'huh, I don't get it' and moved on. But given everything I've learned about Pratchett since and all the quotes I see you all pass around, it has come to confuse me.

Is there a particular book you all recommend for me to start from if I try it again?

🐢🌿 Avec leurs carapaces couvertes de mousse, ces tortues donnent l’impression de transporter un mini-monde sur son dos.
On dirait presque des créatures échappées de chez Pratchett : un vieux reptile, un peu de végétation, et cette sensation qu’il pourrait soutenir tout un univers s’il était de meilleure humeur. 😄
