#TransBill moved by Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment for granting recognition and making welfare provisions the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights), Bill, 2019 got cleared in Rajya Sabha on November 26, 2019 without any amendments. The bill has been getting a lot of criticism for its regressive provisions and if enacted may result in more oppression and discrimination defeating the original purpose of the legislation.

Amish Devgan was once called a BJP “pimp” by Rajeev Tyagi of the Congress, on the former’s live TV show.

Today, on Devgan’s show, Sambit Patra of the BJP said, “मैं सोनिया गांधी के सामने झुकने वाला हिजड़ा नहीं हूँ (I’m not a eunuch who would bow before Sonia Gandhi).”

@musafir Two things that comes to mind now is
1. To get international support against this bill.

2. Do a HUMAN CERTIFICATION campaign. Asking people how would they like to be certified as a human by a magistrate court and after doing test.

Ask our politicians to show their human certification for they definitely lack humanity.

Despite Rajeev Gowda and Tiruchi Siva raising valid points and asking for amendments to the Transgender Persons Protection Bill, it was passed by the the Rajya Sabha without any changes.

Let's think on what to do next!! Criticising is where it begins. What next??

From the little that I know, the #transbill #india conversation seems to have gone like this.

Trans folks: We have rights too you know.
Govt: Here's a bill that will protect your rights.
Trans folks: This bill doesn't work for us.
Govt: I'm glad you like it.
Trans folks: But... but... you aren't listening.
Govt: I'm so great for protecting your rights.
Trans folks: But you're not protecting my rights!
Govt: You can thank me later.
