Kurashiki:
After a good two hours and two train changes, I reached my destination.
The Shinkasen would have only taken 58 minutes with one change, but I prefer the local trains because you simply have more time to enjoy the scenery.
Reasons to hate my stupid country:
[CORRECTION: Turns out I *can* take a train to Montreal, but neither Google nor Apple Maps will include the Amtrak Adirondack route in their directions, so maybe our stupid map apps are much of the problem]
According to map apps, I can't take a train to Montreal. What kind of nonsense is it that I'd have to ride for most of my trip on a Trailways bus instead of riding a train?

So far this year I've been doing all my trips by train and I've been very happy with this :-)
* Leiden (night train)
* Sicily (night train)
* Birmingham + Paris
* Nice
* Berlin (night train)
* Wien + Linz + Tyrol (night train)
* Venice
Next, I want to go to Scotland, Sweden, Norway...

C'è una signora che continua a chiedermi qual è la prossima fermata nonostante le abbia detto, almeno tre domande fa, «non lo so signora, mi dispiace, non sono di qui». Ottimo.
