My train is not until 18:28.
It would be nice to say that it’s good to be back in an old familiar haunt. It’s still reliably gritty, but it’s remarkably diverse and busy, a huge positive when compared to the city of my college days in the late 80s.
The weather is warm and sunny. It’s not such a bad dirty old town really.

Pelit: Forest Shuffle & Dale of Merchants
Kymmenes matkustuspäivä meni pelaamatta mitään, vaikka aikaa olisi ollut. Tulipa välillä luettua – ja spämmättyä Mastodoniin. Ruotsin-junassa pelattiin taas.
Mukaan otetuista peleistä kahdeksatta ja yhdeksättä tuskin enää pelataan tällä matkalla junassa, joten saldo jää seitsemään.
Niitä – Ticket to Ride UK (8.) ja Saboteur (9.) – on kyllä pelattu tällä matkalla, mutta ei junassa. Ensin mainittua pelattiin skotlantilaisen hotellin olohuoneessa ja jälkimmäistä laivalla. UK-menolippu oli sen verran nihkeä kokemus, että voi olla vaikea saada noita muita pelaamaan sitä uudestaan kovin pian.
Siispä klassikoita pöytään: Dale of Merchants ja Forest Shuffle, uusi suosikkimme.
Uutta oli tällä kertaa se, että olimme kahden hengen pöydän ääressä. Aika hyvän kokoinen tämäkin oli.
Forest Shuffle loppui nyt yllättävän aikaisin, mikä oli siinä mielessä hyvä, ettei tilaa oikein ollut enempään. Siinä mielessä huono, että nyt jäi testaamatta, kuinka ahtaaksi sen voi (siedettävällä vaivalla) stäkätä.
Nämä korteilla pelattavat pelit ovat kyllä siitä hyviä, että ne eivät vie kuljetuksen aikana juurikaan tilaa.

Even though it’s busy, the food buffet is being regularly replenished. It’s my last day of holiday so I’m splurging.

The ferry is quite busy with the club lounge about 60% full and it’s very warm.
All the seating with prime views in the club lounge has been taken but I’ve managed to nab a share of a banquette which unlike most seating here provides head support and its own power socket.
Irish Ferries could do with modernising this space.

The bus transfer to the ferry is less ideal but the modern layout of #HolyheadPort with very remote berths means self loading of foot passengers is never going to happen.
Prioritisation of the foot passenger shuttles on arrival is something that could and should be done however.

On time arrival at Holyhead after a relaxing trip through the English midlands and along the North Wales coast.
Train to ferry connection at Holyhead is seamless with railway station and ferry terminal effectively the one building. This is how it must be if lower carbon travel options are to be encouraged.
Now waiting to check-in for the Ulysses which seems to be running to schedule.

Sinne päästäkseen on näytettävä SJ:n 1 lk paikkalippua; 1 lk reililippu ei riitä.
Hankimme 1 lk reililippumme viime marraskuussa 25%:n alennuksella. Siitä tuli 2 lk lippuun verrattuna lisähintaa muistaakseni noin 7 €/päivä, mikä on kuittaantunut helposti erinäisillä pikku tarjoilulla, joiden saatavuus on kyllä vaihdellut kovasti eri maissa.
Nyt en kysellyt tuolla loungessa vegaanivaihtoehtoja, vaikka siihen erikseen yllytettiin.
