Yay, tomorrow is my first scheduled 10km run in a while. I've had several that have come close to 10km, but slightly under, but tomorrow, I'm going the distance!
#running #TrainAsOne #workout I'm not loving using my general fediverse instance to post my running stuff, mostly because I'm not loving the lack of integration and the manual screenshots I need to do etc.
I'd really love something that could just export my run ready to post, with some comments, rather than having to manually craft the whole thing.
To that end, I'm trying something different. We'll see how it sticks.
Anyway, this is my week in running (last week).
Started with a parkrun on Saturday, but I used it as a chance to do a TrainAsOne 3.2km assessment run, which helps the platform assess my fitness by seeing how I handle running 3.2km (2 miles) as fast as I could.
It was a week for assessment runs, as I had two others in the same week. A 6 minute assessment run ib Monday (run as far as I can in 6 minutes) and Thursday had a Perceived Effort assessment (run at a self assessed easy pace for the duration of the run, ideally without looking at the watch).
I finished the week up with a threshold run on Thursday and a Tabata run on Friday. The Tabata is a series of really short intervals (20 seconds) with 10 second cool down between them, but it felt a bit too easy. I feel like I needed more repeats.
All up, 30km this week.

I managed to fit today's run in between the periods of rain today, so that was a win. It's not quite warm enough anymore for me to feel comfortable running in the rain. Too many experiences with pneumonia to want to roll those dice again.
But in any case, today was another economy run, but this time at a slightly improved pace over my last run, as TrainAsOne works with my improving fitness. In the graph, at the bottom of the image, the top of the grey section represents my goal pace, and as you can see, I was pretty bang on the money for most of the run, and it felt right for slow easy miles.
#running #workout #TrainAsOne parkrun today, but I took the chance to do a TrainAsOne assessment run, as the assessment run was just over 5km in length. In this case, the assessment was a 3.2km assessment, which meant a slow run, then flat out for 3.2km, followed by a short recovery, and then finishing with a slow run.
The good thing about these runs is that it lets TrainAsOne update my fitness, and adjust my training paces accordingly, so thankfully, my future runs will see a small improvement in my training pace. I've been getting a bit frustrated with how slow my training pace has felt recently, so hopefully this will feel a bit better.
#parkrun #TrainAsOne #workout #running Today's run was Interval training. 5 intervals of 3 minutes at 5:38 pace, with 3 minute cool downs between, and a warm up and cool down at either end. I still feel like these runs aren't quite pushing me enough. I needed either a couple more repeats, or a faster pace.
I'll do an assessment run at parkrun tomorrow and hopefully that will update the numbers its working with a give me something a bit meatier.
#TrainAsOne #running #workout Another almost 10km run today, still at economy pace. I'm starting to get frustrated with how slow economy pace feels, which is good and bad. They're meant to feel like easy miles, and it's good that a 10km run can feel easy, but I need to sink my teeth in to some pace work!
Thankfully, I have an interval run on Friday! Can't wait
#running #trainAsOne #workout Today's run was Threshold run. 7 minutes at economy training pace, and then two rounds of 6 minutes at threshold pace, with a 2 minute gap, finishing up with another 7 minute economy cool down
I definitely feel like I need to do another assessment run with TrainAsOne so that it can update my current fitness levels, as the runs are starting to feel a little too easy now that it's cooling down.
#running #TrainAsOne #workout Today's run was a Tabata run. 14 minutes at training pace before, 8 20 second repeats at sprint pace, with 10 second cool down, finishing with another 14 minutes at training pace.
As always, I struggle with getting the pace right on the high speed bursts, because the Garmin lags slightly in showing my pace, so it's almost over before I know whether I was on the mark. But still, it felt pretty easy today, and viewing the graph after I finished, it looks like I got it vaguely accurate :)
#TrainAsOne #running #workout Today's run was an economy run at close to 10km. My longest in a while, and pretty easy because of the slow pace.
#running #workout #TrainAsOne Another progression run today. Three 20 minute legs, each progressively faster, finishing at a goal pace of 6:15 (Which is about my 5k pace). It was quite hot towards the end, so I struggled to maintain the pace in the last leg. I'm regretting the late night and the sleep in :p
