Weltschmerz à GogoI look at pretty wild fashy rhetoric all the time, and I find myself muttering the phrase "shocking, not surprising" a lot. I'm actually sort of glad every time I feel a bit shocked, because just going numb to it would be a really bad sign.
At any rate, sometimes the basic internal contradictions in what they say are just so glaring that they produce that reaction. It's the sheer audacity of throwing something so totally counterintuitive out there with such force that the absurdity of it goes largely unnoticed amid all the bluster. I've seen a lot of that, so it's not surprising, but it can still be jarring nonetheless.
Such is the case when white Australian Nazis demand "mass deportations" of immigrants and their descendants. Really, Ricky? You really want to go there? You really want to argue "blood and soil" on behalf of white people in Australia when there are indigenous people whose ancestors have been on that land for 65,000+ years?
They do. And they did, verbally and in banner form in a Melbourne train station on Saturday. About 30 of them, of whom only one was arrested for "grossly offensive public conduct.”
It is seriously shocking to see such a contorted and misanthropic worldview on full display, but nothing could be less surprising. The fucks.
