Everything worked out of the box with #Debian Trixie, including the fingerprint reader (using fprintd - don't remember if I installed it or not). I especially love the trackpoint and the feel of the keyboard. It has an Intel Core i5-1135G7 with 16GB RAM - plenty powerful enough for me so far.
Conclusion: I'm very glad to have joined the #thinkpadclub 😁

idle question: does anyone (ideally in Canada) sell refurbished ThinkPad X230s with all the upgrades done? bigger SSD, more RAM, etc. (OS not required.)
at this point in my life i would absolutely pay extra for someone to do all the hunting for parts, hardware installing, etc.

speaking of, the trackpoint on my keyboard (it's a separate USB keyboard with a trackpoint in it, not the one on my laptop) is getting worn down and needs replacing. i could order official parts but is anyone making, like, special or even better trackpoints? 🔴 #AskFedi #ThinkPadClub #thinkpad

thinkpad battery replacement update: decided not to go with any of the sketchy options and just order off the official replacement parts site, which luckily had the right one in stock: https://lenovo.encompass.com/
it cost more, but it arrived literally the next day?? anyway, no complaints.
