Agi: Hantavirus: ministro, negativi tutti e 4 i test dei pazienti isolati in Italia

AGI - Il ministero della Salute informa che "gli accertamenti virologici sull'hantavirus eseguiti ieri a Milano sul turista britannico rintracciato e posto in quarantena perché si trovava a bordo del volo Sant'Elena-Johannesburg hanno dato esito negativo. Così come negativo è il test dell'accompagnatore che viaggiava con lui in Italia. Sono altresì negativi i test effettuati sul giovane calabrese che si trova in isolamento fiduciario e sulla turista che è stata ricoverata a Messina per polmonite e che proviene da una zona endemica dell'Argentina. I campioni di entrambi sono stati analizzati allo Spallanzani di Roma". Il ministero ricorda che "il rischio connesso al virus resta molto basso in Europa e, dunque, anche in Italia".
La paziente di Messina prosegue le cure
Prosegue le cure la paziente risultata negativa all'Hantavirus e ricoverata al Policlinico di Messina per una polmonite. Secondo quanto spiega la struttura ospedaliera, la donna di 49 anni, arrivata al Pronto soccorso dell'ospedale universitario il 10 maggio, proveniente da una zona endemica dell'Argentina - era stata immediatamente posta in biocontenimento già dal primo accesso nell'area di emergenza, per poi essere trasferita nel reparto malattie infettive dove ha proseguito le terapie sempre in isolamento.
La paziente ha riferito di non aver avuto alcun contatto noto nè con i casi diagnosticati sulla nave da crociera, nè con altri casi noti di Hantavirus - e "pur non rientrando nella definizione di caso sospetto come da circolare del ministero della Salute - a scopo precauzionale e per completezza diagnostica si è proceduto a contattare lo Spallanzani che ha ritenuto opportuno l'approfondimento diagnostico". E' giunta infine la conferma che il test è negativo.

Health Ministry - The Health Ministry informs that “virological tests on the hantavirus carried out yesterday in Milan on the British tourist yielded negative results, as did the test on the companion who was traveling with him in Italy. The tests performed on the young Calabrian who is in observation isolation and on the tourist who was hospitalized in Messina for pneumonia and who comes from an endemic area of Argentina have also been negative. Samples from both were analyzed at the Spallanzani in Rome.” The Ministry reminds that “the risk associated with the virus remains very low in Europe and, therefore, also in Italy.”

The Messina patient continues treatment

The patient who tested negative for Hantavirus and was hospitalized at the Messina Polyclinic for pneumonia is continuing treatment. According to the hospital, the 49-year-old woman, who arrived at the emergency room of the university hospital on May 10th, coming from an endemic area of Argentina, was immediately placed in biocontainment already upon her first access to the emergency area, and then transferred to the infectious diseases department where she continued her therapies while in isolation.

The patient reported not having had any known contact with the diagnosed cases on the cruise ship, nor with other known cases of Hantavirus - and “even though she does not fall within the definition of a suspected case as per the Health Ministry’s circular – for precautionary and diagnostic completeness, contact was made with the Spallanzani, who deemed further diagnostic investigation appropriate.” Finally, confirmation arrived that the test is negative.
