Yay, tested the new
#BMX gear!

Had to ask a very nice mechanic at a nearby shop to do the chain replacement (half-link), he fricking cut out the middle part of a chain breaker tool so that my chain could fit into it, the absolute madman/legend. He also aligned my new handlebars which I installed incorrectly (which I noticed but forgot to fix with the bike tools at the office), plus the brake lever.
As soon as I got home I put on all my new safety gear and headed out to find some nice spots. Had to go pretty far, but I found one.
There was a driveway that I could bunny hop off of to the side and land on a slope, that was fun. Even more fun was a (small-ish) pallet that someone left unattended at a nearby container, when I saw it I just knew I had to borrow it.
I placed it on the road (which was empty, almost no one goes there this late) and did a few practice jumps next to it at speed. Then in the middle of what was supposed to be a practice run, I thought, eh, I've got, and went at it. Almost got it, but the rear wheel clipped it slightly. Took a few attempts but managed to fully clear it. The new taller handlebars are so good for hops.

And! I didn't fall a single time!
