Carving some weaving tools for my former colleauge Marie. Eight small ones, four larger and two large. I love working with smaller series like these. For the first hour you stumble and try to figure stuff out and after a while it just falls into place and you settle for a suitable method.

This was my final project for my second year at Sätergläntan.
What I chose to work with was weaving reed making. It is an extinct craft here in Sweden, so I had to start from what was written about the craft and what I could figure out from testing.

The reed is an important tool in the loom and keep the warp threads apart. So the reed has a big impact on how tight the weave gets. Nowadays, metal reeds are mostly used, but there are situations when a wooden reed is more suitable. Reconstruction weaving is one such example. If you use a metal reed, the fabric becomes very static.
