Random news that might delight Fedi friends as much as it does me: I desperately want an outdoor air quality monitor, but my rental does not have any outdoor electrical outlets (because it's not built to code lol) and I can't find any that work on solar. I've been flummoxed for a while.
I just discovered that Temtop makes one, a relatively new model, with rechargeable batteries! 1/n
The #IAQ seesaw continues here. As the temps and #AQI outdoors were both better this morning, windows were opened, and dropped the #CO2 to 656, a decent level. The #PM2.5 jumped to 17, which is still fine. Happy to see some fresh air indoors.
Outside, the #temtop monitor says the #AQI is 140.
We went over to my in-laws, where they had the windows closed and had some window AC units running - the AQI inside was around 120 and stable.
I brought a 3-filter #CRBox over and plugged it in (on low). Within 10 mins, AQI was in the 70s. It slowed down at that point, but after running for an hour AQI is currently 43 and still slowly dropping. #smoke
@ai6yr So, just happened to be making BBTs today to go with the gaspacho. Bacon really sets it off!
Also had really high readings, but strangely (?) the PM readings went up while the #AQI went down, both after the bacon. Huh.
Checking #IAQ here again with the 2 competing meters. With the windows open and the outdoor air deteriorating the #CO2 isn’t terrible while the quality is only moderate. Once I close those windows, the HEPA turns that around for better quality but we continue to exhale.
So, deeply into the #AirQuality tradeoff today. If I keep the windows closed we have excellent air, but high CO2.
Today, for the last time (higher temps coming) I have the windows open so the CO2 is excellent and the #AQI is slightly higher.
All of this with no smoke to speak of. Balance of headaches vs sore throat.
