I just finished my ~4th play through of the TV series Mom (2013). My quick review.

(very mild spoilers)

Mom is one of my favorite post-2000 comedy TV shows. The show follows Christy, an alcoholic in recovery, as she tries to juggle work, raise two kids, and rebuild her messy relationship with her often‑chaotic alcoholic mother, Bonnie. Many alcohol, drug, & sex references, so not kid friendly.

DERRY GIRLS (NETFLIX)
We can't believe we just discovered this program. It's funny. It has heartfelt moments. And, like clever comedies such as Schitt's Creek or The Simpsons, it has many secondary characters with their own distinctive quirks.

One particular cast member who always delights is Siobhán McSweeney who plays Sister Michael. Every line she delivers lands perfectly.

Easy to get hooked on, and like the other two comedies I've mentioned, you'll find yourself rewatching episodes.

MR LOVERMAN (Binge, but most likely on BritBox elsewhere)

We watched the heart breaking but beautiful BBC adaptation of Mr Loverman yesterday.

While it is a story of an older married man in the closet, it's much more than that as we discover the backstories of other family members. Just like the main character, many have regrets but are too scared to move on.

I'm trying not to give spoilers as I knew little about it when we binged all eight half-hourish episodes yesterday. I began disclosing plot details in this post but deleted those paragraphs.

This is family drama in its true sense. Strong cast, high tension scenes, excellent story. I couldn't recommend this more as its one of the best shows we've watched this year.

I started watching Workin' Moms (2017) this week; I'm about midway through Season 3 now. Very funny from the perspective of several married, working mothers. I would call it a "modern sitcom", meaning it is less formulaic, less laugh-out-loud funny, less punchlines & absurdity, more about the humor (often tragic) in everyday situations and conflicts.

The women's perspective helps keep the show original and interesting.
