This Tuesday: Pray and Pub!

Chag sameah, comrades!

We are going to carry this joyous Purim / Adar energy into Tuesday evening with prayer and pub! We’ll have a ma’ariv service with snacks 7-8 at the LGBT+ Centre and then head to the closest pub afterwards. (See more: https://jaq.blessing.exchange/event/maariv-3/ )

Please invite your friends! This is a lovely way to spend a spring evening. The pub also has food.

Spring is a time for growth, and we’re hoping for both our joy and our numbers to bloom.

New Minyan Times

By popular demand, we’re experimenting with some different time slots for our London-based Weekday Minyan. Our next minyan will be a maariv, on Tuesday 4 February.

If you’ve never been before, you’re very welcome, but please book so we know to look out for you.

Future February dates and times aren’t yet fixed, but we’ll have a new set pattern by March. Watch this space for news and announcements or send us an email to get added to our list.

The Blue Dove Foundation, which works with #Jewish and #interfaith communities around the world, has developed some excellent, free resources to support people experiencing emotional pain. One of their downloadable guides is named "Derech L'Tefilla ~ A Path to Prayer."

Derech L’Tefilla – A Path to Prayer - The Blue Dove Foundation

Jewish prayers and rituals can help to strengthen our mental well-being and resilience. For those who connect with prayer, it can be a meaningful way toward healing. Prayer can help us channel our thoughts into concrete action, projecting our care, love and hope out into the world. If you do not have a regular prayer […]

I have been meeting people who are working on their #Hebrew reading skills to become able to say traditional #Jewish #prayer (#Tefillah). There are a few good free resources on the archive.org website using #Psalms (#Tehillim) ~ here are two:

Rafi Metz's slow and clear reading of Psalms in alternating English and Hebrew: https://archive.org/details/PsalmsOfDavidInHebrew/NPS_19_Glat.mp3

Shir Yaakov Feit's musical settings of verses from Hebrew Psalms, in easy-to-follow tunes: https://archive.org/details/shir-psalms/ps14.mp3

Psalms of David in Hebrew : Rafi Metz : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

These were originally made for my own practice, and decided to share them, so they don't go to waste ~ please forgive the low sound quality and rambling...

A lovely new offering from #Rabbi BJ Thaler is posted on @opensiddur ~ part of the כוונות kavvanot tradition, named "יש חיים
- There is Life." In English and #Hebrew ~ you can read it and hear it sung by Rabbi BJ here ~ https://opensiddur.org/prayers/life-cycle/living/well-being-health-and-caregiving/there-is-life-a-healing-song-by-baruch-jean-thaler/
