Hey everyone I'm helping my team find a new #knowledgeManagement platform as part of a big project next year and I need some suggestions!
This will be a internal (non end user facing) #technicalwriting platform for a team of #systemsengineer & #networkengineer ( #systemsadministrator #networkadministrator) We have #ServiceNow knowledge right now but the features are very lacking.
I've pitched wiki.js as a open source, self hosted platform. One of our infrastructure architects is co-testing Microsoft Loop with me right now.
Basic wants/things our current solution is lacking:
Better searching
Page/category heirarchy
Tags/labels (searchable)
Nice to have:
Review due dates
Embedding documents (mostly PDFs)
I'm not sure if this is a normal thing that happens to everyone else, but I'm constantly finding issues with our infrastructure at work whether it be zombie VPN filters, packages that are over two years old that impact other packages (looking at you #RStudio), and other random licensing issues. I swear I'm either the luckiest person on our team or cursed to receive the projects that take 2-3x longer cause you have to fix the backend before you can get anything else running... Not complaining (well, not entirely) because I love my job and what I do but damn, can a mofo catch a break?
