When multiple garages were not able to solve the "finishing HVB charging via 110v kills the 12v battery" issue in our #Ford Cmax Energi #PHEV my wife and I considered trading it in. That didn't appeal because we don't need extra debt, why junk a 2016 car with no major damage, and we love the car except for this charging reliability issue.
So the #PracticalSolarPunk solution If the garage can't fix it is to just charge both batteries at once. Cheaper and less wasteful than a new car, and gets us back using our #residentialSolar to charge the car and enjoying #sunPowered #electricVehicles again!
A $30 12v battery charger is much cheaper than a new car, or to pay yet another garage hundreds of dollars to tell me PHEVs are not meant to drive in EV mode and I'm "driving it wrong"!
