he smallest creatures in the Southern Ocean hold up entire ecosystems, and they’re being stripped away by industrial fleets.

China’s krill capacity has now surged to almost twice Norway’s (the largest krill-fishing nation in the world after China), fuelling an extremely dangerous race at the bottom of the food chain.

This isn’t just about krill. It’s about whales, penguins, and the stability of the world's climate.

Industrial krill fishing MUST end, and we need your support to defend Antarctica. Check our link in bio, or directly visit savekrill.com, to add your voice to @seashepherd’s campaign urging retailers to stop selling krill.

🐋 The Antarctic Ocean is reaching a tipping point.

📸 In a new commentary, Sea Shepherd’s Peter Hammarstedt responds to the AP’s breaking story—warning this could mark a dangerous turning point for whales, penguins, and seals.

For the first time in history, the krill fishery may hit its full catch limit—620,000 tons—threatening the lifeblood of whales, penguins, and seals.

👉 The evolving crisis in Antarctic waters—and why it demands immediate attention—can’t be ignored. The time to act is now. We need protection—not profit—in Antarctica.

The smell. The blood. The silence after.

What we saw during the latest grind in Leynar, #FaroeIslands, just two weeks ago, still haunts us. They didn’t care how young or how pregnant the whales were - it was just about the killing.

Watch the full documentary for the footage they didn’t want the world to see. And take action to help us #StopThePlunder.

Krill supertrawlers are operating next to pods of feeding #whales and #penguins in some of the most remote waters in the world, and it’s all perfectly legal.⚠️

What Must Change in Antarctica to Stop the Destruction

YouTube
Our crew is witnessing the destruction caused by krill supertrawlers, turning #Antarctica’s pristine waters into an industrial production line. These floating factories are sucking up krill, processing it onboard, and creating products that fuel the cycle of destruction. The impact on marine life is devastating, and it’s happening right now.

We can’t let this continue ⚠️

How Antarctica's Waters Are Being Turned Into a Production Line

YouTube
Whales once roamed the oceans by the millions - until commercial whaling nearly wiped them out. 🐋🔴

Today, as they fight to recover, there’s a new threat: a war on #krill. The very food whales depend on is being hoovered up by industrial krill trawlers in #Antarctica.

That’s why, for the third time, we’re back in the Southern Ocean - defending krill habitats so whales actually have a shot at bouncing back. 🙌

👉 But we need your help to fight the krill industry:

- Boycott all products containing krill
- Visit savekrill.com to demand that big retailers stop selling it
- Join the movement – wear Sea Shepherd merch to spread the word and support #OperationAntarcticaDefense (link in bio)

Up close with destruction. 🛑🐋
During the past weeks, our crew got just meters away from the massive krill trawlers operating deep inside the critical ecosystems of #Antarctica. Our media and science teams worked side by side - documenting, filming, collecting evidence - all with one goal: to expose the true impact of industrial krill fishing and push for the protection of these vulnerable waters through a Marine Protected Area.

It’s not just about what these trawlers are taking - it’s about what they’re breaking❗️
Their catch sets off a domino effect you can’t see from the surface. 🌎

How many more #whales need to die before something changes❓

The day before this humpback whale was found dead, our crew arrived at Coronation Island, where eight supertrawlers were already dragging their massive nets through waters full of feeding whales. One of them was the Antarctic Endeavour, which killed this whale the next day.

This isn’t a rare tragedy. It’s the result of letting industrial fishing continue in places that are supposed to be protected.

Help us push CCAMLR to turn this proposed marine protected area into a real one, before more lives are lost. ➡️ Comment, share, and use our krill toolkit via the link in our bio. Let’s #StopThePlunder together!
When #oceanconservation faces tighter controls than destructive fishing vessels, something is deeply broken.

Our crew just documented a rarely seen reason they’re able to keep plundering Antarctic waters - uninterrupted for months. 👉 Watch the full video via the link in our bio.

Out here in #Antarctica, it's clear: marine life can’t keep up with industrial trawlers sucking the life out of the ocean.

As we track and expose these krill supertrawlers, we’re surrounded by whales, penguins, seals - feeding❗just meters away❗from huge factory vessels dragging their massive nets and stealing their food.

⚠️ In case you missed it, the Chilean krill supertrawler Antarctic Endeavor trapped and killed a #humpbackwhale just a few weeks ago. And it’s still here, dragging its nets through fragile waters. 👉 Find out more via the link in our bio.

The industry is relentless. But so are we!

Join the fight. Let's #StopThePlunder together!
