So roll up and see
How they rape the universe
How they've gone from bad to worse
Who are these men of lust, greed and glory?
Rip off the masks and let's see.
But that's not right - oh no, what's the story?
There's you and there's me

Musical Interlude: Back in the 90s, I happened upon a CD of cabaret songs from Weimar Berlin. I loved it, found it witty and fun, but also slightly alarming at how little things had changed. And now, thirty years later, still things haven't changed much. Here's a song as relevant today as it was a century ago.
"It's All A Swindle," performed by Ute Lemper.

"But these grinning men were someone’s brother, son, husband, father. They were human beings, people who took immense pleasure in the utter cruelty of torturing others to death—and were so proud of doing so that they posed for photographs with their handiwork... Their cruelty made them feel good, it made them feel proud, it made them feel happy. And it made them feel closer to one another."
