TIL: on the a5100, Sony disabled the option to turn off LENR (Long Exposure Noise Reduction), so every 30 sec image took me 62.
That's not only sad, but reduces the quality of the stacked image.
Anyway: Here's one of about 50 Subs, slightly cropped.

So, following the excellent #siril tutorial, I might still have done too much to the stacked image in the end.
Anywho: Tracking went well, pictures are a little out of focus I guess. Still, I was able to produce somewhat of a nice image, given the circumstances.
I'm happy š

Seems like I'm not properly polar aligned. At least I think that #Betelgeuse is slowly moving out of the centre of the picture.
Might as well be that it wasn't properly centered from the beginning, but I can't tell until the camera stops shooting or I can't see Betelgeuse in the picture anymore š
I'm shooting with just my old Sony a5100 and the kit zoom lens taped in place at 210mm.
No guiding, no nothing. Fingers crossed š¤
Someone is out, taking pictures of Betelgeuse š
I'm without a car today, so I had to get out in front of the house and try to shoot whatever presented itself to me.
It's full of street lanterns and cars driving past, so I'll just hope for the best š
This is the first time I really try to work with the #StarAdventurer I bought back in.. November?
Went out to get some first real imaging time with my new #StarAdventurer mount tonight.
Knocked over the tripod twice while polar aligning.
Forgot the finder scope illuminator at home, couldn't see anything.
Tried illuminating with my head lamp, somehow succeeded.
Had my phone fall in the mud while searching #pleiades, dropped the lens cap when I wanted to put it in my pocket.
When my head lamp fell into the mud I gave up and went back home.
#astrophotography is a great hobby.. š
A closer look at Orion
Iām blown away by the details of this photo that I took yesterday from our terrace. It shows the Horse Head Nebula as well as the Great Orion Nebula and a ton of stars from the Orion constellation.
I took 180 light frames at 200mm using ISO 1000 at f3.5 for 15 seconds each on the Canon EOS R with Canon EF 70-200 f2.8L IS USM II. Then I stacked and processed them using Siril.

Same image... different processing. First image has not had stars colour balanced whereas the second image has.
