Ended Monday and welcomed Tuesday after a swim with Vince Guaraldi Trio the debut studio album by American jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi (credited to the Vince Guaraldi Trio), released in the US by Fantasy Records in September 1956.

Billboard wrote a positive review, “Altho [sic] sales are unlikely to be spectacular, this is one of the pleasant surprises of the month. Guaraldi is a young San Francisco pianist who has been getting rave notices with the Woody Herman band. Evidence here says he’s a tasteful, authoritative and facile modernist, and that he swings. Further, he has a sense of humor. Guitarist Eddie Duran and bassist Dean Reilly are worthy colleagues. Try their version of John Lewis' 'Django' for a real delight.” - Wikipedia

Ebony Concerto is a musical composition by Igor Stravinsky, commissioned by jazz musician Woody Herman and completed on December 1, 1945. It is one in a series of compositions requested by Herman for solo clarinetist and jazz ensemble and the score is dedicated to Herman. Will Big Bands Ever Come Back? by Duke Ellington, released in 1965 on Reprise.

Despite being a cash LP featuring the Ellington Orchestra doing versions of well-known swing tunes, this is still a quality LP but then the Duke did not make a bad record in his life.
