🐝 #Stagecoach marked 125 years of Queens Road Bus Garage in #Manchester with an open day attended by around 2,000 visitors, in partnership with the Museum of #Transport. The site opened on 6 June 1901 as Manchester’s first electric tram depot and remains in continuous use, now operating within Greater Manchester’s Bee Network franchise.
The event featured guided tours of the working garage, which now houses 153 vehicles and 504 staff, plus shuttle services linking central Manchester and Heaton Park Tramway. Exhibits traced the evolution of local transport, with historic buses from the Museum of Transport displayed alongside modern Stagecoach Bee Network vehicles.
A highlight was an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC repainted in authentic SELNEC Central livery (1969–74), reflecting regional transport heritage. Stagecoach said the celebration reflected community pride and the depot’s ongoing role in keeping Greater Manchester moving.
