Realized it's been ages since I posted about my current #needlefelting project.
I find that adding a colour layer to a piece is much less interesting to me than creating the initial shapes, but I am enjoying seeing this come together (slowly) none-the-less. I'm definitely looking forward to adding fun designs to the pants!

This #handstand #shark is based on @RAPIDPUNCHES 's characters,

A3. I've tried a few, and they sort of work in a rotation. Having an accountability buddy or saying I'm doing a thing on the internet has mixed results, as sometimes that gets to feel overwhelming and I find myself balking at working on things. I sometimes will plan a schedule, and that helps for at least as long as I can keep up with it (and I will *always* misjudge how long things take). I think I've done best with a blend of low-intensity check ins, like my #staberday hashtag and making "next step" managers.

It's #staberday and I haven't done any #needleFelting since I added that one piece of purple to begin enpurpling the shark.

I think I know what my "de-stress about the fact the windows upstairs in #thisOldClownHouse appear to be.. less than optimally installed???*" project is gonna be.

* research still to be done on this subject, the gap between the window and the wall that we were worried about has been repaired at least temporarily and we'll look into how wonky the current install actually is at a later date

Ok, I didn't do my #staberday post, but I'm proud of how far I got on this project in a week, so I'm doing a summary today instead!

Over the course of a very stab-heavy week, I got from a wire frame to an almost entirely fleshed out body on a figure based on a piece of artwork from a #fediArtist who's stuff I love.

I was gonna leave you all in suspense over who's art I was basing this on, but I've run into a question for y'all that will require me sharing the piece with you (see the follow up poll coming soon for that question)

@RAPIDPUNCHES has a delightful series of humanoid aquatic animals in a synthwave style.
This figure is a shark doing a yoga-style handstand.. because of course! I have the sticker of them on my bullet journal :D

It's always fascinating to me just how compact the wool gets when I'm working with it. Here' a pic with the wool I'm adding just wrapped around the piece, and then after I've felted it in. I haven't even felted it that tightly, I'm intentionally letting things bulk up a bit before I really get them felted tightly.
3rd photo is from the other direction, after I've bulked out one of the legs a bit more. Now it's time for a snack.

And a #staberDay post for the first time in a while. I week or so ago I finished up with felting this tiny shoe as a gift for my mother, it's in the mail to her now.
Today I started on my next #needlefelting project, which is my first one that I think needs an armature!

Now, up 'till this point, if I've been working on a gift for someone on fedi, I've been not sharing photos..

This one is based on artwork from a #fediArtist and I intend to send it to them, if they decide they want it. ..I'm not gonna name them yet though, as they don't know this is happening.

I'll keep taking photos as things progress, maybe one of y'all can guess who's work I'm bringing into 3D! lol I've gotten a bit of wool on it. A long way still to go, how it currently looks makes me think of how mummies look in halloween decorations!
