The UK Defence Secretary John Healey confirmed that the Russian spy ship Yantar has been operating just outside UK waters north of Scotland. The Royal Navy and RAF have been tracking it, and during the operation the vessel reportedly aimed light lasers at RAF pilots.

It’s the second time this year the ship has appeared near the UK, and it’s known for mapping and potentially targeting undersea infrastructure.
