I had such a frustrating time trying to hand-draw the unit sprites that I gave converting voxels to sprites using #spritestack another try.

I think it looks surprisingly good, although it's a bit chunky and melty. In any case the legs actually look like a biped walking, which is what I was having a hard time figuring out. And then I'd have had to do it again for eight directions 😬

I'll investigate this method further, but might need to redo the walls 🤔
