MEOWR! If you are a #gamedev, have you ever wondered if there was a community for gamedevs to live together? Well I am currently at #spelkollektivet, a coliving workspace for game development where you'll find programmers, musicians, voice actors, cats, more cats, sound designers etc etc who are involved in some way with game development living here.
For a flat fee, you get a private room that also includes water, internet, electricity, food etc. Just bring clothes and the machine you dev with and you're good to go! And maybe swim gear if you fancy a dip in the lakes nearby.
On Monday, a documentary about this place premiered in Vaxjo, and it is now available to watch on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4oBSm3QJk4
If you are familiar with games like Death and Taxes, Lords and Villeins or Pixel Art Academy, definitely take a look into the lives of these game devs.
I'm currently living there (my 2nd time actually). HMU if you have questions! There are at least 3 #furry involved in gamedev here.
Be warned: There are some major issues living here e.g.
- No race tracks nearby, Nürburgring is quite a drive.
- Surrounded by lots of forests and clean air, might not be good for city folk.
- Lakes everywhere! Godzilla might lurk below the water! DANGER
- Bubble tea here sucks. Seriously.
- Only Wifi 6E. Why not Wifie621
- Still haven't seen a moose, I've been here 7 months in total. WEAK
- You need to walk to an adjacent building for the sauna. Highly dangerous, could get hit by a comet.
- The winter is not cold enough, I don't think I've seen more than half a foot of snow. What kind of shit swedish experience is this. I was expecting 3m walls of snow, people huddled playing vrchat on their headsets to keep warm.
Ok I will stop here because my brain is going very off tangent.
