8/ Spectrum saga.
TLdr summary, "It's not our fault, it will take upwards a couple weeks to fix, your 40 outages a day doesn't matter. Fine print considers an outage 4-hour consecutive. yours last minutes, Here's $3 bucks. Go to hell, peasant)
Today, a member of the engineering team came out for the service call. Other neighbors have been calling tech support, also.
My logs helped them out.
What is going on is, they did a major network overhaul, which increased speeds from around 100 mbps to up to 400mbps. Spectrum contracted that out.
The contractors were supposed to add some kind of, and excuse my memory here, tap splitter/filter, so the new tech would work and at each connection.
They didn't. They also were supposed to do some kind of work at each trunk that fed each portion of the community. They didn't.
There is no estimation on when this will get fixed because they don't know where all the failures upstream are coming from.
Today, they started at my home and worked backwards and will until service is restored, but once again, they don't know how long that will take.
Meanwhile, I got my version of Ma Bell internet hooked up today and it is much, very much, lower speeds but it is working so much better and at a fraction of the price, as Spectrum ever did.
Spectrum internet is hooked up to a lonely #RaspberryPi doing nothing but logging WAN network failure because I am not going to let this go.
Meanwhile, Spectrum Mobile notified me today that we had reached our plan limit for the month and now have to pay for another gig because our phones switch over when the local internet goes down and wifi can't be reach the internet.
Spectrum says the fine print of the terms says we can't be reimbursed unless an outage is 4-hours consecutive. It doesn't matter I have 40 outages per day last one to 5-minutes. #law #SpectrumInternet #ConsumerProtection
