HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY TO POET WARRIOR SONIA SANCHEZ

Sonia Sanchez (born September 9, 1934)is a poet, writer, and professor. She was a leading figure in the Black Arts Movement and has written books of poetry, short stories, critical essays, plays, and children's books. Sanchez published her debut collection, Homecoming, in 1969, unleashing a new justice language in America. In 1993, she received a Pew Fellowship in the Arts and was awarded the Robert Frost Medal in 2001.
