```
one line fenced -- 8< cut here 8< code block
```

```kotlin
val x = 1 && 2 // #pachli
val y = x < 2
```

> First line of quote
> Second line of quote

Starting a line with ~~~ does not start a fenced block, you must use ```

~~~
See!
~~~

Similarly, starting a paragraph with spaces does not start a quote.

Here's some inline math: \(e^{i \pi} + 1 = 0\)

Or block level:

\[e^{i \pi} + 1 = 0\]

As one of the early players in the fediverse, we ran into hashtag spam a lot back during Diaspora's rise and fall (2010-2012). They refused to implement groups (like Mastodon) and used hashtags as a "poor man's groups feature" - and of course it was quickly abused by spammers.

My current fediverse implementations allow you to set a limit on mentions and hashtags that are relevant when following hashtags or notifying you of mentions. You can choose your own tolerance. So if you follow ##some hashtag but the post has 20 hashtags, we don't consider that hashtag to be relevant and we don't import that post. I think I've got mine set at 5. Even if you're not following hashtags, you can create a filter rule that discards any post with more than 'n' hashtags. Anything over 15-20 is nearly always from spammers or grifters.

It's a fantastic feature for dealing with this kind of crap. If your software doesn't have it, you might suggest it.

Does Mastodon search not let you find "posts someone made with a specific hashtag"? I tried searching "#somehashtag @iamkale" but got zero results. What am I missing here? πŸ€”

#mastodon

So I'm sitting here, freshly showered, not yet dressed and taking the first bite of a sandwich when this thing flies into my room, lands right next to my hand and scares the flipping hell out of me. LOOK AT THAT THING!

I managed to catch it (don't fuck with mammals, bro), kick it out, but I'm still shaking. JEJUS FUCK FUCKING FUCK FUCKER.

#someHashtag

@jscholes
Ah okay.
I consciously decided to put my bunch of relevant hashtags at the end rather than using # in the text itself. Because of better read flow.

But your information now has me rethink: I'll make sure to not add normal text afterwards and to begin my bunch of hashtags with the line:

Only hashtags follow:
#SomeHashtag #AnotherHashtag
#EndOfToot

@oblomov The problem is tags are visible in the post and sometimes this is undesirable. For example I've been writing short poetry posts on Mastodon and putting #someHashtag at the end of every single one would change their feeling
