In the 1990s,the #FoggyMountainRockers and myself played as opener for many international #Rockabilly and #Teddyboy #Rocknroll acts, such as #MarvinRainwater, #Matchbox, #FreddyFingersLee, or #TheRavens (ex #Shotgun) in the local area.

After I left, they were even opening gigs for legends like #CrazyCavan, #RiotRockers, #FlyingSaucers, #RobertGordon, #BigAlDowning, #HaydenThompson, #SleepyLaBeef, #CollinKids and #ChuckBerry. Yes, and even for #BossHoss ;-)

Maria Muldaur, age 81 (hard to believe), may still be best remembered for her days with Jim Kweskin and the Jug Band and for her hit, "Midnight at the Oasis." After a spell when she did not seem to be much in the news, she flipped things, appearing to be all over the place. She has been a go-to vocalist for various artists collections and she contributed backing vocals to a Sleepy LaBeef track. "Richland Woman Blues," the album this cut comes from, is a very fine set. Likely Lead Belly would approve of her treatment of "Grasshoppers in My Pillow."

A person can listen to this track but cannot buy it individually. It is beyond me as to why, but Sun only sells full digital albums. I should think labels would be guided by the ways fans want to buy music. "Rockabilly 1977," though, is the album that put Sleepy LaBeef's career on a serious upward trajectory. So, most people who get so far as to listen to a song are probably going to want to purchase the album. This digital version has quite good sound and it is pretty much essential for Sleepy LaBeef and New England rock fans.
