These days this is the kind of film that would appear without fanfare on your Netflix feed. Back in the early 90s it grossed $175 million despite generally poor reviews. Opened at No. 2 in the UK behind Highlander II: The Quickening. Surely it was better than that!

#SleepingWithTheEnemy is unpopular. I get it, it's clumsy and the way #JuliaRoberts directly goes from abusive #PatrickBergin to literally the next guy she sees... But then the way the film plays with symbolism isn't half bad. The white and the red dress, the sleek modern villa versus the cozy rural home, the baddie's black designer coat versus the 1950s clothes of the teacher, the finale all in sepia... Someone did some thinking.
