Interesting... I just found this SimCity Demo diskette for the Macintosh. This is running on Mac OS 8.1 on the Basilisk II emulator. In gorgeous black & white! 😍

Been playing Sim City 2000 the past few days. Such a refreshing experience. No gigabytes of updates to download before I can play. No ads for other games to click through. No nagging popups urging me to save my games in some corporate cloud. Just me and the game. That's it. Refreshing.

I just learned about this upcoming indie game, it looks great! It's clearly inspired by Transport Tycoon and early SimCity. I'll definitely be giving that demo a try (if it works on Linux), it looks right up my alley.
