Maybe this goes back to the internal memo system in old department stores, etc? Where a memo was sealed in a metal can, and air-propelled through a network of pipes to a different part of the building.

It is about 4:30am here. I saw an email saying I got a new message from the SSA last night. So try to get my message only to be greeted with a prompt saying coma back during our operating hours.
I guess they did not get the memo about how the Internet works, right? Do they still think it is a series of tubes?

Really digging this ep of Darts and Letters podcast about the history of how the internet got started as a project of the American government, and then was 100% privatized. I'm learning a lot, and it's gloomy but fascinating.
