Had a blast riding new bike infrastructure & celebrating the new Waterfront Trail in Seattle with such a great group led by Hanoch (Best Side Cycling). We definitely filled the new trail to near-capacity!

I checked out the newly opened segments of the Alaskan Way bike path this evening on the Seattle Waterfront. I split my footage into 2 parts which you can watch on BlueSky below.

Part 1 (Union St to Spring St): https://bsky.app/profile/bobco85.bsky.social/post/3lgk6vi3iwc26

Part 2 (Spring St to Yesler Way): https://bsky.app/profile/bobco85.bsky.social/post/3lgk6viqmpc26

The Alaskan Way bike path is now continuous from the trail at Atlantic St to Union St.

1/2 I heard that more of the Seattle Waterfront bike path along Alaskan Way opened, so I checked it out. It’s still not fully open, but I took some footage to show what it’s like. This 1st video goes from Union St to Spring St #SEAbikes #seattle @typewriteralley.bsky.social @seattlebikeblog.com

@urbanistorg What's frustrating to me, in addition to the project being pushed back again and again, is that the Office of the Waterfront doesn't say WHY it has been delayed. I'd assume it's simply because accommodating people cycling is not their priority. What's your take?
