"Evening Landscape at Stokkavatnet," Kitty Kielland, 1890.

Kielland, a Norwegian, drew some flack for this painting, as her friends felt it was too somber. Now it's regarded as a masterpiece of water landscape, and the artist's best work. This is an actual lake in Norway, near Oslo.
