Ausstrahlung auch im japanischen Originalton Nach einer Diebestour in einer kalten Winternacht treffen Osamu Shibata (Lily Franky) und sein Sohn Shota (Kairi Jyo) auf das kleine, verwahrloste Mädchen Yuri (Miyu Sasaki). Kurzerhand tut Osamu das, was der Gelegenheitsarbeiter am besten kann - er 'stibitzt' Yuri und nimmt sie für eine warme Mahlzeit mit nach Hause. Die anfänglichen Bedenken seiner Frau Nobuyo (Sakura Andô) über das neue Familienmitglied sind schnell verflogen. Auch Großmutter Hatsue (Kirin Kiki) und Halbschwester Aki (Mayu Matsuoka), die hinter einem Einwegspiegel in einem Stripclub arbeitet, heißen Yuri in der Enge ihrer alten Behausung willkommen. Umgeben von anonymen Wohnblöcken lebt die bunte Truppe mithilfe von kleinen Betrügereien, Ladendiebstählen und trotz widriger Umstände glücklich zusammen. Bis zu dem Tag, an dem ein unvorhergesehener Vorfall bisher gut geschützte Familiengeheimnisse enthüllt. Jetzt muss sich beweisen, ob diese Menschen mehr verbindet als ihr Dasein als Kleingauner und Lebenskünstler...
