The company will enter a 30-day grace period that should lead us to what seems like an inevitable bankruptcy filing. Meanwhile, Diamond Sports Group says they expect business to continue as usual. In other words, viewers should not expect to miss a game.
According to John Ourand, Bloomberg thinks that Diamond Sports will go into bankruptcy in the next two months. Diamond will likely skip a $140M interest payment due in mid-February. This will not bode well for local sports teams, who will not see a single rights fee paid to them until this bankruptcy plays out. This means layoffs, potentially. Diamond Sports is the parent of #BallySports #RSNs. That's a lot of NHL, NBA, and MLB teams affected.
