Il film e' idealmente il seguito di Revolution OS, realizzato negli Stati Uniti. Questo invece è stato girato in Italia sotto la direzione di Arturo Di...
Don't you think we need a holistic approach to political discourse? Because it's all connected in the end, all the problems facing us.
I feel while we have left wing bloggers and independent journalists speaking about this and that, they often overlook computing: that is, the web, corporate #SocialMedia, and the push for AI.
I watched that documentary #RevolutionOS, and the ethos of the #FreeSoftware movement is very much about a socialised approach, something distinctly anti-capitalist.
Yet, somehow, this ethos doesn't seem to have been picked up by other people on the left who still use YouTube or Facebook or Substack or BlueSky.
That's probably because computer jargon is very niche and difficult to understand.
I'm in no way an expert on computery stuff, but the fears I read on Fedi do not seem to be the fears of most of the #journalists out there who wilfully carry on putting videos on YouTube or moving to the next social media platform.
Yet for #FOSS to have a future, having a wider support is essential, I think. And the same goes in the reverse: for independent #journalism to have a future, it needs the ethos of FOSS.
So I've watched half of the Revolution OS documentary and I noticed:
Development of free operating system not favourable to corporations.
GNU is a recursive acronym where the G stands for GNU.
Linux was developed by Linus, which is pronounced Lee-nus but Linux is pronounced Lin-nux.
Bascially, #Linux is for people who like annoying other people, isn't it?
