Rutger Bregman is delivering this year's BBC Reith Lectures. Just subscribed to Downcast. I'll listen over the holidays.

I read his book titled Humankind in 2020, and enjoyed it. I wrote on Twitter on 25th June (typos uncorrected):

"I finished Humankind by Rutger Bregman today. Everyone should read it. Lots of the stories that peoples worldview and also policy is based on are incorrect. The Stanford Prison Experiment for example."

The most perceptive question made in this series of Reith Lectures, "So what is this great moral singularity?", that's a paraphrase.

For which there was no answer except human nature.

I would prefer avoiding the cesspit and condemnation of morality and rather turn to the process of Ethics.

Tänä vuonna BBC:n The Reith Lecturesit pitää Rutger Bregman, aiheenaan Moral Revolution.

Kaksi luentoa on jo radioitu, ja löydettävissä internetsistä kuunteluun, kaksi on vielä tulossa.

It comes with a little attention task: listen closely and spot the instance where the #BBC reportedly removed the line: "Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history."

BBC News

I can’t get enough of #rutgerbregman ‘s first #reithlecture . His analysis of the decay of the West seems accurate to me, but what I really love is his optimism for a future built on a moral revolution. His proposition: just imagine what we could achieve if we self organise and work together on meaningful endeavours. I’m compelled to quote nearly everything he says…

So now our Press is being censored so a Foreign Tyrant doesn't sue the BBC? And where is the Prime Minister during all this? Saving his own premiership right now, too busy to defend the UK against foreign aggression

Here's the BBC Bias, subjectively Trump is a very corrupt man, it's barely partisan to say it, unless you're someone like Robbie Gibb, who can look past Trump's sex crimes and corruption and see the beautiful tyrant underneath...

It's a pity the audience at the Reith Lectures isn't allowed to laugh at the punch lines.

Proper scary stuff - Stuart Russell’s series of #ReithLectures on #AI - this episode on warfare mentions a 7 minute movie #Slaughterbots (link below) which provokes some concerning food for thought
