ICE is holding around 59,000 detainees in facilities across the country, likely setting a record high, according to internal government data obtained by CBS News.

And then it gets much worse (actually worse starts sooner and this is just the middle).
Moving beyond "show us your papers" we"ve arrived at "tell us your beliefs."
Where can one obtain a passport-sized US constitution?
Come to think of it, why doesn't a US passport -begin- with the articles, as remedial education for the so-called patriots wearing a badge?

“I think that there is a wrong perception that foreign scientists are somehow privileged to be in the United States. I feel it’s the opposite,” [lab PI] Peshkin said. “Foreign scientists come here with gifts ... they are highly skilled experts who are in demand. They enrich the American scientific community.”

Russian-born scientist Kseniia Petrova has been detained by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement since February when she failed to declare frog embryo samples at Boston's Logan Airport. The Harvard University researcher says she made a mistake, not knowing she had to declare the samples. The U.S. government accuses her of smuggling and Petrova is being held in a Louisiana detention facility waiting for a judge to decide whether she can be released. Petrova spoke with The Associated Press on Friday from the immigration facility about her case, facing deportation, her research in Massachusetts and conditions at the detention facility.
"...the White House needs to crush and/or humiliate a handful of universities … but only one at a time. In each case it has to be one victim alone, with everyone else cowering in the shadows. Once the point has been made, with a few institutional corpses, no one else will get out of line. That’s the idea. If all the colleges and universities band together, the whole thing falls apart."
