Also, do you still use #readerware, and if not, what did you replace it with?

Readerware – pleia2's blog

I tried out Readerware at the recommendation of a few people, since I was looking for something that I could catalog all my books and media with. The short review? It’s probably the best software out there to do it, but it’s not the best software I’ve ever used, and the Linux version is a […]

@DrHyde Electron? Eww. I'm seriously interested in doing something native and cross platform. Both because I've wanted something like this for a long time, and second because I need to try things to pick up income. I would love it if you or other people who like #readerware on #bookstodon would contribute notes about what you liked and wish was different.

Nooooo!!!!!!! The author of #Readerware has died!!!!!!!

That means there won't ever be an Apple/ARM version for use when Apple get rid of Rosetta. So can anyone recommend a replacement? Requirements: can handle #books, audio and video, and is a desktop app, not just a website. Must be able to import/export data. Must not be written in Python, Ruby or Javascript, because I like things to work reliably for years. Must support Mac and Linux. I am willing to pay but must be able to try it first.

I'm also looking for a replacement for #Readerware for cataloguing my #library. Must be a desktop app for Mac, and ideally have a Linux version too. Must not be a web app (sorry #Koha!). Must import/export data in a reasonably open format. Ideally it will "auto-catalogue" by grabbing data about ISBNs from the intertubes. Ideally it will support audio and video media as well as books. Ideally there will be a companion iOS app it can sync with. It can be payware provided there is no subscription.
Can anyone recommend a Mac app for keeping track of my books, CDs, and DVDs to serve as a replacement for #Readerware? Must be able to export data in an open format, to import some vaguely sensible format, and to look up metadata on the intertubes for new items entered as ISBN or UPC bar code numbers. Ideally, but not essentially, it will have an iOS companion that it can sync with so I can have copies of my data in my pocket. Please only recommend tools you use yourself. #Bookstodon

@billyjoebowers

Well look into that one.

Anyone else have experience with #ReaderWare? The programs are $40 each and I'd love to ask a few questions.
