Railway workers in the US deserve #paidsickleave. In fact, all workers in the US and around the world deserve paid sick leave, especially when we're still in a #pandemic.
We also need to have a conversation about the anti-democratic nature of the US Senate. When the majority can vote for a measure and it still fails, that's a problem. Not that I expect better from an institution created to prop up slavery.
This pod has long argued the US labor movement does not have the means or organization to start a general strike.
The catch is, we are currently in the sort of conditions that would make it incredibly easy for the Powers That Be to blunder their way into triggering one through a combination of malice & stupidity. The railworkers are one excellent example of how that might happen.

If you're a #rail #worker for the Class 1s in #Iowa and have an opinion on the #Biden statement calling on Congress to preemptively stop the #railstrike, I would love to hear from you. Writing a quick piece on it today for Iowa Starting Line.
If you’re ever going to interfere in union contract negotiations, you better be on the workers side.

“Full sellout from the White House for the majority of rail workers who rejected the deal the President brokered, preemptively denying them the right to strike. This was the “which side are you on?” moment, and the White House chose the railroad bosses. https://t.co/yasjb9tFdf”
