Got a notification earlier today that the train that my friends and I booked to get from Amsterdam to Antwerp for #Darklands was cancelled, due to a Belgian rail strike. Oh no!

Fortunately, I found another solution. We'll take the train to the closest Dutch town to the border, and then a submissive friend who lives in Antwerp will drive over, pick us up, and drive us back to Antwerp.

I'm so glad that I know so many submissive men who are eager to make my life easier!

OK, I take it back, the CBC’s is still a poorly written article that unfairly makes it sound like the workers were on strike. Compare the first two paragraphs from the current CBC article versus the current BBC article on the issue.

A better article on the stoppage than CBC had before.

The previous made it sound like the workers had stopped the trains, when it was actually the two companies in tandem locking out the employees at the same time. That has never been done before.

Only now are the #Teamsters at #CNRail putting in their 72hr strike notice. The Teamsters at #CPKC already have done that but have not actually launched a strike.

The disruption of rail services across Canada and into the US is going to be a huge disruption in NA industry. My forecast has been that gov would let it progress past the strike/lockout deadline and a few days past, tops.

Expecting back-to-work legislation and binding arbitration before next week.

MAJOR Canadian rail strike begins tonight. Same issues as the 2022 rail strike where Biden intervened against the union: brutal schedules that push sleep deprivation, seemingly random relocations, the works.

A benefit of this is that tar sands "oil" by rail won't be able to move. Harmful effects (for which we need to blame the railroad bosses) include food shipments and water purification chemicals that may not move except possibly by truck.

Note that Canadian Pacific Kansas City declared a LOCKOUT starting tonight, and this declaration came prior to the strike notice! The lockout notice was issued Aug 9, the strike notice not until the past Sunday (August 11), and also that day Canadian National issued a lockout notice.

The strike notice means picket lines though, which other unions will not cross and any scabs should expect trouble crossing. Here in the US, the Teamsters-affiliated
Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen has instructed their members not to cross picket lines, and authorized them to refuse to operate any trains owned/run by the two offending Canadian railroads inside the US.
