Knock me over with a feather.
Scene: two middle-class, highly religious ladies in their 80s having a coffee. (My Mum and her sister.)
Aunt says a childhood friend of her children is moving back to the area with his wife and child. Aunt feels compelled to add that the child was born female but now identifies as a male.
My mother, barely pausing for breath, asks, "How old is he?"
🤠 Once mentioned to my parents that his youngest son was born into a female body, there was no reaction from them and I always wondered if they actually heard.
Turns out it wouldn't have mattered.
