Celine Sciamma said in an interview about #PetiteMaman that as she’s working on a movie she likes to imagine an audience member reacting to it. This time she imagined a mother and her little girl seeing it together, and afterwards they take the bus home, and it’s raining, and they run home through the rain, “and I’d like to think they both run a little differently.”
If you’ve seen it you’ll understand how well that works as a reaction.
Just finished rewatching #PetiteMaman, and my god, Celine Sciamma can create an ending. The “musique du futur” sequence, followed by that perfect goodbye (amazing performance from the little girl there), and then the amazing little button of “Marion?” “Nellie?”
